This was the main event, and it was a cracking contest between two very promising featherweights.
Without doubt - the best fight of the night !
ĐỖ VĂN THIỆN NGÂN and ĐOÀN HOÀI NHỚ went non-stop, sharing plenty of great moments in a fight that rightfully could have gone either way.
The judges nod was a split decision win to the Ca Mau boxing team fighter ĐOÀN HOÀI NHỚ.
Very excited to see both of these top prospects in future bouts !
It was a super impressive debut by southpaw Pham Van Thành to win the main undercard bout.
The super bantamweight contest was high level, and opponent Truong Ngo Gia Huy showed nice skills and movement throughout.
But it was the more consistent touches and ring control that won the judges, and the Binh Duong boxer Pham Van Tan scored the first of what is surely many wins to come.
Excellent bout between two fighters making their debut - Team Manny boxer LÊ NGỌC MINH KHÔI and Khang Anh Martial Arts Club PHẠM LÊ GIA HUY.This was an excellent bout where both boxers adhered to basics, maintaining a decent punch volume throughout.Huy was the much taller boxer, and used his range well to outpoint his opponent, who often tried to broach distance with a high guard but lacking the fast head movement and jab. The Khang Anh boxer impressed the judges, and lots more wins seem assured.LÊ NGỌC MINH KHÔI was an excellent debut, but certainly had issues with the height and range of his opponent. He looks like a drop to 48-50kg class will suit him far better, and expect to see him winning with more experience under his belt.
Improving novice Thai Hoàng Huy went on the attack in round two, after trailing 10-8 in the early scorecards.
Huy was unfortunate in round one, after appearing to slip just prior to receiving a glancing blow, and was deducted two points for the knockdown.
But the former muay thai fighter quickly made up for it, landing a peach of an uppercut on Tran Ngọc Phuong Hieu to end the battle in stunning fashion.
Despite his inexperience as a boxer, Thai Hoang Huy has improved markedly since he debuted, and moves to 4-1 as a professional.
Tran Thi Kim Chi definitely showed that she is a top prospect, but Quảng Ngãi dynamo edged the rounds last night with punch volume and accuracy to score her second win as a professional. Unanimous decision.

18 year old Quảng Ngãi prospect Duyên returns for VSP PRO 8 for a featherweight 57kg bout against Can Tho team's TRẦN THI KIM CHI.
Duyen is a former youth and club champion gold medal winner, and debuted in March at VSP PRO with a classy victory over Hoang Thuy Linh. She looked very restrained in that performance, and expect to see something special from Duyên this coming Saturday.
She is certainly one of the future stars for women's boxing in Vietnam.

VSP PRO has unearthed lots of unheralded yet talented fighters so far, and our next installment on Saturday September 30th promises to continue the trend.
One of six boxers that will make their debut is 52kg firebrand Lê Ngọc Minh Khoi - a 22 year old boxer who always looked destined for the pro ranks.
The solidly built Dong Nai fighter has actually been around boxing since he was a kid, and even achieved a bronze medal at the nationals back in 2014. But his come forward and aggressive style always beckoned the professional format, and as destiny has it, the Team Manny boxer will make his long awaited first appearance at the VSP Gym in two weeks time.
Khoi will take on Pham Lê Gia Huy of the Khang Anh Martial Art Club in HCMC, and for sure, this will be a hell fight between two very fiery combatants making their debuts.

23 year old southpaw Dào Văn Quân heads to Ho Chi Minh City this week, ahead of his main bout clash with Matrix Gym gun Phan Minh Quân next Saturday night.
Dào Văn Quân hails from the Hanoi Boxing Academy, and has been training in the sport since 2013.
The Hanoi boxer has shown dramatic improvements since the pandemic, and was suitably rewarded with a bronze medal at last year's national sports festival.

Tran Van Thao is probably Vietnam's best known "professional" boxer, and despite the best efforts of the pandemic, has managed to stay active and motivated to further hus successful career.
"The Trigger" beat the Philippines Prince Andrew Laurio by knockout last October, and has since stayed fit sparring and competing with amateurs. Despite the less suitable 4 round format,Thao performed outstandingly at the National tournament earlier this year, getting silver in a closely fought contest with Hanoi boxer Tran Van An.
Thao makes his anticipated return to the pro ranks on July 15th, on an a huge international event to be held at The Grand Ho Tram Resort and Casino. It is understood that Vietnam lightweight champion Nguyễn Văn Hải will also be appearing on this same show. Both boxers will be pitched against national champions.
Mark John Yap will be representing the Philippines, and after a recent exhibition bout in Ho Chi Minh City, should be in great shape for July 15th.

Clarence Breboneria and Bryl Bayogos looked in ominous shape at today's weigh in, ahead of their meeting tomorrow at Mauway Gym.
Both boxers, at just 21 years of age, are highly promising. Bayogos is unbeaten in 4 outings, whilst Breboneria also has 4 wins, and could just as easily be unbeaten in 6 bouts. His losses were extremely close decisions, and it would also be accurate to state that the Elorde product has improved considerably since.
Breboneria has been in rampaging form since last October, devastating opponents with three knockout wins in a row.
In what looks a really open contest over 8 rounds tomorrow, if there is an advantage to be exploited, it may just lie with the power that Clarence Breboneria is capable of producing.

The Yap Attack and Head Coach Jetro Pabustan are headed to Ho Tram Vietnam this July, as they look to reinforce the stocks of Mark John Yap on the world scene.
It is expected that the Philippines star will appear on an all international event, and will fight a young top rated fighter from the Middle East.
Familiar faces to VSP followers, Nguyễn Văn Hải and Junior Kauko Raka, will also compete on the Cocky Buffalo show.
Mark John Yap will return to Manila from CDO for sparring in 10 days time, on the back of an impressive exhibition performance in Ho Chi Minh City late last month.

The "Hanoi Hitman" Nguyễn Văn Hải has been short listed for a big international card that is expected to light up The Grand Ho Tram Resort and Casino next month.
Hải improved his record to 5-1 with a boisterous win over the high ranked Chinese Xiao Tao Su, and in doing so, became Vietnam's #1 Lightweight performer.
The event at Ho Tram will include boxers from various countries, and is confirmed to include the Philippines Mark John Yap and Papua New Guinea's Junior Kauko Raka.The promoter Cocky Buffalo is also in talks with Vietnam's best performed professional "Trigger" Tran Van Thao about competing on this card.
The Grand Ho Tram international boxing event has been set down for July 15th.

Rumours are strong that Papua New Guinea's premier fighter Junior Kauko Raka may be headed to the sunny shores of Vung Tau this coming July.
The "made from granite" Raka has made no secret that he wants to fight the top international boxers, but those opportunities aren't available at home in Papua New Guinea.

Raka has already won two pro bouts, and taken two losses - but these were outstanding efforts against world rated Roldan Aldea and Mark John Yap.
It is believed that Raka is in talks to take on Vietnam's highest ranked professional fighter, and if so, this story is sure to create big news in that country.

Doan Hieu and Mark John Yap were impressive winners on Saturday at VSP PRO, yet found the energy to get back in the ring today for some friendly rounds.
The Philippines visitor Yap heads home tomorrow night, but will return to Vietnam on July 15th for a big pro event in Ho Tram.
HCMC boxer HIỆP, better known as "BABY KONG " scored his debut win at VSP PRO 4 on Saturday night. It was his best performance so far, showing an improved work rate, and selecting a variety of shots on the inside that really impressed the crowd. Hiệp was especially successful with the uppercut, and he kept changing angle to keep his very strong opponent guessing.
Great fight, and looking forward to seeing more of Lê Hoàng Hiệp, and his rival Nguyễn Huỳnh Phúc Tiến, in future VSP PRO events.
Mindanao's Mark John Yap wound back the clock in Ho Chi Minh City tonight, with a brutal display over national team prospect Nguyễn Hà Minh.
Yap was returning from a couple of months break from the sport, celebrating the birth of his first daughter Yuri early this year. It was noted at the weigh-in for the Lightweight 61kg clash, that Yap looked a little soft next to his taller and ripped Vietnam opponent.
The Journey Man was given a warm reception by the crowd, who were divided as to how a pro veteran would match up with the slick Vietnam boxer in a highly paced 4 round format.
Nguyễn Hà Minh is only 20 years of age, but is a highly touted member of the Vietnam team,
He is tall, and boxes with beautiful range, has fast hands, and he seamlessly angles between stances to land counters with ridiculous ease.
The first two rounds were arguably won by the local star. The Philippines Yap pressed constantly, but his timing and distance were a little off, and Minh often punished his enterprise with counters.
Despite being outlanded, Yap was undeterred, and always looked significantly dangerous.
Cracks started to appear in the armour of the Vietnam star in the third, as Yap began to find his range, and the momentum shifted noticeably. The Journey Man was walking through Minh's efforts with impunity, and was really chopping his rival to the body. Yap was relentless, and went "old school" brutal in the final round, where he dropped his Vietnam opponent with sadistic attacks to the torso. Nguyễn Hà Minh stoicism saw him meet the final bell, yet had it been a longer bout, the stoppage was perilously near.
Mark John Yap was simply devastating tonight, and produced such a dominant performance on foreign soil, that he was hailed as the winner by unanimous decision.
It was a credible showing by hot national team member Nguyễn Hà Minh, and he acknowledged that Yap's strength and experience overwhelmed him in the home stretch. He will benefit a lot from his encounter with a hardened professional.
But the big news is - YAP IS BACK !
The evergreen killer from Cagayan de Oro will return to the ring in a big, soon to be announced fight, this coming July.
Pablito Canada and JonJon Estrada make great fights, and Saturday's was no different.
Minus the little kerfuffle near the end, where both boys were getting frustrated, and it was a really good contest with plenty of to and fro.
JonJon Estrada is known for his power, and although he showed more patience than usual in the longer duration 10 round bout, he still found time for some signature Wolverine moves.

HCMC boxer Thai Hoang Huy returns for VSP PRO next Saturday May 27th, and is promising to show improvements to his game, but still deliver plenty of thrills along the way.
The 57kg former muay thai fighter will jump to 63.5kg for his upcoming bout, but is happy to do so in order to gain more ring time.
"Nak Su" (Warrior) won by stoppage on debut, before a narrow split decision loss in March, and is under no illusions about his task in boxing.
"I love it, but I know I have a lot to learn.
It is very exciting for me to compete, and I have many idols that I study. I hope I can be be near their level some day.
I know I have a lot of power, and when I learn more, I want to give the fans lots of KNOCKOUTS like idol JonJon Estrada from the Philippines. "
