Jules Victoriano showed plenty of potential prior to his time off, and definitely had that look of a boxer who would go on to win more and bigger bouts. He works off a long jab, and whilst he is great at controlling the action from the outside, he also shows plenty of willingness to keep his hands moving on the inside once the range is shortened. He is a classy boxer to watch, always maintaining good stance and balance, and really clever at being a ring general. This style always resonates well with the judges in close bouts, but Victoriano also has the power to close the show when the right opportunity presents. Not really a BANGER, he achieves his power through sweetly timed shots, and has scored 6 KO in his 9 wins so far. Great to see this promising 24 year old fighter back into the fray gain. His task won’t be easy, he meets Jetro Pabustan, a winner of 30 bouts against some good class opponents.
Jules Victoriano turns the lights out on Sachin Dekwal !
Elorde's Jules Victoriano scored a stunning stoppage win in Colombo last night, icing champion Sachin Dekwal and taking his WBC Asia Continentsl belt into the bargain.
The southpaw Dekwal had boxed beautifully in the first 6 rounds, showing great hand speed and adept back foot counters.
But Victoriano pushed the action in round 7, connecting with Sachin Dekwal as he was backed against the ropes. After being dropped with a hook, the champion regained his feet, but it was only momentarily, as "Victorious" ruthlessly finished off his victim.
This was a great win by Victoriano, and a perfect statement made after suffering the narrowest of defeats to Vietnam's Dinh Hong Quan for an IBF title recently.
Arnel "the Silencer" Baconaje will be looking to avenge that defeat on December 10.
Chillers, thrillers and KILLERZZZ assembled at Elorde Southbox this morning for yet another training block.
Big fights coming!!
Next event BATTLEFIELD Oct 23 in Manila
Yes! Saturday is work day too! These three Elorde boys are busy honing the skills and building bone and muscle. Jules Victoriano just returned from Vietnam, where he had a huge encounter with local lightweight champ Dinh Hong Quan.
Cris Ganoza and the Wolverine have exciting times ahead, and will venture to Japan this month. Ganoza takes on unbeaten Goki Kobayashi, whilst Estrada looks to put the claws into Yushi Fujita.
WATCH OUT JAPAN!
Despite suffering narrow losses, Ben Ligas and Jules Victoriano produced next level performances in the belt fights in Vietnam last night.
Ligas faced the vastly experienced Uzbek, the much revered "mini Tyson " Olimjon Nazarov. This was quality boxing from both, with "the Sniper" bringing the cleaner punches, but perhaps lacking the aggression of Nazarov, who looked constantly keen for work. This was a hard match to score, as neither fighter was particularly dominant in a see sawing affair, and the body shot in the 11th where Ligas took a knee was perhaps the only real difference.
Dinh Hong Quan is physically indomitable, and with his height and reach, this improving Vietnam boxer is a task for anybody. It was anticipated that Jules Victoriano would give him his toughest test to date, and he definitely didn't disappoint !
This was a great fight, and is probably best viewed in two parts. Victoriano boxed beautifully in the early rounds, but despite landing nice shots, the Vietnam champ kept stealing rounds with some heavier and more direct landed shots. Quan also "appeared" more dominant, more frequently backing Victoriano up and putting him on to combos.
Going into the second half of the fight, Victoriano definitely lifted his output and accuracy, and even gave the Vietnam opponent a couple of "dig deep" moments !
This was an exciting and fantastic match up, that very easily could have been scored a draw, it was that evenly contested! There is no doubt that Dinh Hong Quan produced the best performance of his career last night, and this was really needed because of the beautiful boxing skills displayed by Jules Victoriano.
VSP would love to see these two great young fighters rematch at a later date, maybe on a bigger stage!
Post event, all smiles, and pictured are Coach Toto Laurente, Ben Ligas, VSP Vietnam boss Lim Song, and Jules Victoriano. Great job by all !
Philippines' Ben Ligas and Jules Victoriano looked in crazy shape at today's weigh in!
All boxers passed the scales without incident, and the stage is set for a huge night of boxing in Ho Tram Vietnam tomorrow night.
Ligas will fight Uzbekistan's "mini Tyson " Olimjon Nazarov for the WBO Oriental Flyweight championship. While reaching veteran status, Nazarov is still a boss in the ring, and has an amazing record of 27 wins in 32 fights. Philippines champ Ben Ligas has a height and reach advantage, and will need to use this to keep the Uzbek wizard on a leash.
Dinh Hong Quan is a typically Vietnamese fighter - long, lean and one super tough SOB!
Jules Victoriano represents his biggest challenge as a pro when the two meet for the IBF Asia Lightweight belt tomorrow night. Victoriano is a stylistic boxer with power, and whilst he is normally the taller boxer, this won't be the case against Quan.
This is a super match up, and perhaps the best yet seen in the short history of pro boxing in Vietnam !
Ben Ligas and Jules Victoriano are ready to fly out for HCMC Vietnam ahead of Saturday's big fight night in Ho Tram.
Ho Tram is a coastal area, about 150km south of HCMC, and the Grand Casino is proving a popular boxing venue.
HCMC is still working with crowd restrictions as a result of the pandemic, so non city areas are great choices for boxing events.
Local promoter Cocky Buffalo have a great card, highlighted by belt fights that include the two Elorde boxers.
National champ Ligas will fight outstanding Uzbekistan boxer Olimjon Nazarov, a winner of 27 fights, and is a world top 40.
Jules Victoriano and local Vietnam prospect Dinh Hong Quan will contest the IBF Asia Lightweight title, and this is sure to prove the highlight of Saturday's cracking card of bouts.
Safe travels boys!
Banging times ahead for some of the Elorde crew.
Gretel De Paz heads to Australia in June, then Lorenz Ladrada to Australia, Cris Ganoza and the Wolverine JonJon Estrada to Japan, and Jules Victoriano to Vietnam, all in July.
Ranny Quizo also meets Rodel Suganob in a local derby that same month.
DON'T FORGET we will have a big card for Manila on August 7th, where we are working to get the Philippines best Charly Suarez his first foreign opponent in the professional ranks.
Also very exciting news breaking late last night is the appearance at this show of the promising and unbeaten Jerald Into.
For those who aren't familiar with the name, you are sure to hear a lot more!
This is a boxer who has settled his first 4 fights with dramatic Knockouts !
Jules Victoriano put on an exemplary boxing performance against a spirited Dave Barlas last night.
Victoriano used his height and reach advantage to perfection, and despite some lunging attacks from Barlas, he was able to enforce an impressive stoppage.
The Elorde boxer, originally from Iloilo, moves to 11 career wins, 8 by way of KO.
Elorde team at this morning's photo call ! Top pros Jules Victoriano, Ranny Quizo, Gretel De Paz, Jover Amistoso and JL Laurente all have big matches at UKC, with Gretel De Paz making her much anticipated Muay Thai debut.
Meanwhile, with an eye to the future, amateur hopefuls Bong Lipata, Raizen Jhay Dela Fuente, and Fernando Olivar are ready to steal all the attention come February 12. These boys are still only teens, and are working hard on their fitness and skills to forge a pro career later on.
John Lawrence Ordonio achieved a stoppage win over outstanding young talent Jules Victoriano at QUEST FOR GLORY. It was his first match back since 2020 for the man known as The Equalizer, and what he lacked in timing, he made up for with ring guile and power. It was a match that both fighters will derive plenty of improvement from, and word is strong that a rematch is looking a possibility. This was a great tussle between Ordonio and Victoriano - definitely worth seeing a "take two"!

Bacolod's Genesis Servania will fight China's rising star Aketelieti Yelejian for the WBO Asia Lightweight title this November.
The highly-anticipated match up will take place on the undercard of the IBF world title fight between Pedro Taduran and Zhu DianXing at Jeju Island, South Korea.
Aketelieti Yelejian, who suffered a narrow loss to the Prince Albert Pagara in June, rebounded with an impressive IBF Asia victory against Korean Jin Su Kim in Vietnam recently. He is a very rangy and deceptive boxer known for his relaxed combinations, and he's supremely confident in his ability to take down Servania and claim the title.
"I've studied Servania's style, and I know I have the skills to outmaneuver him," Yelejian said yesterday.
"I'm excited to represent China on the international stage once more, and bring home an impressive win against a top and proven boxer like Genesis."
Servania, a seasoned veteran with a 35-4 record, boasts a reputation for toughness that has come from battles at the top level. And has still possesses some of the best body shots in the sport of boxing.
This important title shot gives the filipino the opportunity to re-establish himself on the world scene once more, and it's best remembered that his only defeats have came against world-ranked champions like Oscar Valdez and Andres Cortes.
But the China team have already confidently stated that Yelejian's youth, speed, height, and reach may all prove too much for the Filipino boxer.
Their optimism also exudes for the world title bout, where surprisingly, they are quite dismissive of Pedro Taduran's hopes of beating star Zhu DianXing. They actually rate their boxer so highly, they have predicted that the champion has no chance of retaining the belt.
These claims set up an intriguing backdrop for two massive Philippines v China feature bouts.
