Amistoso debuted in February against Clark Dave Pacunla, and in a spirited performance, was awarded an unanimous victory. It was a bout with lots of leather thrown amidst lots of errors, but no doubt proved an excellent confidence boosting for Jover. His following assignment against the speedy Noli James Maquilan was equally impressive. Both fighters shared good moments in that bout, but it was The Joker who was more consistent, finishing with a higher landed punch count, earning him a unanimous victory.
The Elorde trained Amistoso is known to be very quiet outside the ropes, but certainly has the makings of a fighter that will make some big noise in the ring as he inevitably improves. This southpaw fighter has had the benefits of getting some great quality sparring in Manila this year, and it will be really interesting to see what improvements that Amistoso has made to his game since the Maquilan fight in May. Jover delivers from a long southpaw stance, and loves to throw power hand leads.
